First time users of LifeType may find that users can’t be deleted. When clicking on delete users, it’s only disabled but not completely deleted. To delete the user, one must do the following.

1. From admin panel, go to Administration -> Users -> Site Users
2. Press delete, this will disable the user
3. Now go to Administration -> Miscellaneous -> Clean Up
4. Press Purge Users

By default, LifeType’s setting disable new user auto registration. This can be changed by enabling the function.

1. From admin panel, you can go to Administration->Global Settings
2. Under Summary section, there is a summary_disable_registration
3. You can see Disable users registration of new blogs in this site. [Default = Yes], check the No radio button and update settings.

Now logout from admin panel and point your browser to:
lifetypeinstallation/summary.php?op=Register&start=1

Now you can register as new user! Hope this helps! :)

LifeType Logo

Recently there has been a pretty cool open source web application on the web called LifeType. This social blogging platform allow you to create community blog like wordpress.com or xanga.com. And it’s completely open source! Which means virtually everyone can set up and run a blog community with just a few clicks!

This is definitely an alternative solution to WordPress Mu. I am still testing its performance. WordPress could cause quite heavy memory usage. Hope LifeType is better with performance!
