This article teaches you how to create, read, view, edit, write MS Word Document .doc on Ubuntu. For those who are wondering if they need to spend money to purchase a copy of MS Office Ubuntu equivalent, the answer is NO. It’s free and it’s a build-in application called - OpenOffice Word Processor.

To launch the application, from the top of your desktop menu bar, go to Applications->Office->OpenOffice.org Word Processor
